THE TAILFINS 1992-1994

I was in a NYC rockabilly band called The Tailfins. We did mostly covers, but on our demo EP we recorded some of my songs as well. It was fun, we made pretty good money actually! We were invited by Nervous Records, UK to play their pscyhobilly (punk meets rockabilly) festival in England in 1993. It was a real hoot!

"Good Work" (BoDeans) - Listen

Well I lost my job down at the factory
Lost my money in the lottery
Met a little girl walkin' down the street, I said
Ain't there any way to how to beat the heat
She said hey now little baby, love is all you need
I said workin' on love sounds good to me

Chorus
It's good work if you can get it
It's good work if you can get it
It's good work if you can get it
It's good work if you can get it
It's good work if you can get it,
Baby just let it work

Well, I'm playin' six string down at the corner bar
Be-bop-a-lula on a berry guitar
There was a big fat daddy in a cadillac
Sweet little angel ridin' in the back
Hey now mister nothin's gonna come for free
I said Playin' six string sounds good to me

Chorus

Sweet little Mary was just thirteen
Walkin' down the street she'd make a good man mean
Take a truthin' man and she could make him a liar
She could take the coolest cat and set his soul on fire
Hey there pretty babby got me down on my knees
Ya got me workin' every night babe' tryin' to please

Chorus

*"Trouble" (Zenith) - Listen

Don't waste your time, trying to decide
if I mistreat you say I beat you
ain't it just enough
baby, that I need you --

Don't hold the line, I got no regrets
for not fallin' for not calling, baby I just forget
don't waste your time, and don't waste mine

Trouble that's all I ever meant to you
but if trouble is what you want I've got enough for two

Don't waste your time,
if you're leaving for good this time
you'd be lying you'd be crying , baby shouldn't we keep on tryin'

Trouble that's all I ever meant to you
but if trouble is what you want I've got enough for two

Don't waste your time, trying to decide
if I mistreat you say I beat you ain't it just enough
baby, that I feed you --

"Let's Have A Party" - Listen
Written by Phil Baxter, Cliff Friend, and Joe Haymes

Peaked at # 37 in 1960

Some people like to rock, some people like to roll
But movin' and a-groovin's gonna satisfy my soul
Let's have a party
Hoo, let's have a party
Well, send `im to the store Let's buy some more
Let's have a party tonight

I never kissed a bear, I never kissed a *`coon*
But I can shake a chicken in the middle of the room
Let's have a party
Hoo, let's have a party
Well, send `im to the store Let's buy some more
Let's have a party tonight

I never kissed a bear, I never kissed a goon (?)
But I can shake a chicken in the middle of the room
Let's have a party
Hoo, let's have a party
Well, send `im to the store Let's buy some more
Let's have a party tonight

Honky-Tonky' Joe is knockin' at the door
Bring him in an' fill `im up an' sit `im on the floor
Let's have a party
Hoo, let's have a party
Well, send `im to the store Let's buy some more
Let's have a party tonight

The meat is on the stove, the bread's a-gettin' hot
Everybody run, they got the `possum in the pot
Let's have a party
Hoo, let's have a party
Well, send `im to the store Let's buy some more
Let's have a party tonight

Let's have a party tonight
Let's have a party tonight
FADE
We're gonna have a party tonight
